12th National Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Conference

The national soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering academic conference is held once every four years and is one of the oldest and profound academic meetings in China. The 12th academic conference was held in Shanghai on July 18 to 20, 2015. The meeting was hosted by the soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering branch of China’s civil engineering institute and organised by Shanghai Jiaotong University, East China Architectural Design and Research Institute and Tongji University. The theme was "Geotechnical Engineering Safety and Innovation". The conference had multiple sessions running with 300 reports presented and over 2000 participants in attendance.

GDS Instruments Chinese agent EPC, are the leading equipment and solutions provider in the Chinese civil engineering & construction industry. EPC exhibited alongside GDS at the conference as well as presenting their paper. The geo-Lab division manager Mr. George’s paper was published in the Journal of Earthquake Engineering 36 (4), and was entitled" The application of HKUST volumetric measurement method in dynamic triaxial”. Mr George’ presentation focused on dynamic triaxial volumetric measurement method based on the HKUST double pressure Chambers. The presentation received widespread attention.

GDS Instruments has sold over 250 complete geotechnical systems in China, many of which have been used to achieve academic recognition. During the conference, GDS had the opportunity to meet many of their existing users, which provided the ideal opportunity to gain an insight into the local market and future testing requirements.
