Structural Soils has expanded their geotechnical testing capacity following delivery of their latest order from GDS. Multiple static and dynamic systems were received (see images below), accompanied by some advanced transducers, to further enhance their testing capabilities.

GDS has successfully passed it's ISO 9001: 2015 accreditation renewal.

Dan Zanett a Geotechnical Systems Engineer at GDS Instruments, talks through the steps of making a sand sample for triaxial testing. Two different camera angles have been used to give you a detailed view of the process.

GDS have implemented new functionality in the Triaxial Saturation and Consolidation (Satcon) test module, to allow optional Axial control during Saturation and Consolidation. This gives the Satcon test module the option of either undocked Isotropic test control or docked Isotropic/Anisotropic test control.

We has continued to invest in our team throughout 2020, with 12 new employees joining GDS. These roles have been in various departments including, production, stores, purchasing and sales. However, we are not finished just yet and due to our expansion, have three current vacancies. We are recruiting for a Geotechnical Systems Engineer, a Commissioning & Quality Engineer and an Electro-Mechanical Engineer.

Having fun at the GDS test facility today testing a customers sample prior to shipment. A 500mm diameter x 1000mm height aggregate sample (our largest sample to date) failing under load in our 250kN frame, with new effective stress application via internal vacuum rather than traditional triaxial cell and confining pressure.

Trilab has recently installed another 2 GDS triaxial automated systems, to add to their 4 existing Critical State Locus triaxial machines. 

Due to travel restrictions, changing government guidelines & isolation periods after travel, GDS have introduced a new remote installation solution to allow customers to get their apparatus set-up and operational without the need for an installation engineer on-site.
