GDS NGI Advanced Triaxial Cell

Product Code : GDSNGI

Designed with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute, the GDSNGI is built entirely from 316 marine grade stainless steel and engineered to eliminate the compromises found in conventional triaxial cells - from dead volume and air traps to cell compliance and cumbersome sample setup.

The three-part design lets the sample remain in place while the cell is assembled around it, minimising disturbance and saving laboratory time.

NGI operates accredited geotechnical laboratories in Oslo, Perth and Houston and are among the world's leading specialists in soil and rock behaviour.

316 marine grade stainless steel

All wetted components use 316 stainless or inert plastics, ensuring long-term corrosion resistance even in demanding offshore and marine environments.

Three-part cell design

The cell separates into three lightweight sections (~10 kg each) - base, inner frame, and wall assembly - allowing sample setup without disturbing the specimen.

Minimised dead volume

Panel-mounted unibody valves with Swagelok connectors, stainless pedestal tubes, and uninterrupted topcap lines eliminate air traps found in traditional designs.

External displacement reference

Displacement is measured between the ram and cell base via an external reference bar, removing the compliance error caused by tie bar stretch under pressure.

Ram clamp and fine adjustment

The ram can be clamped and precisely positioned for sample docking before the outer cell is assembled, reducing setup time and the risk of disturbance.

Lifting points

Lifting eyes on the inner frame and wall assembly allow each section to be handled independently, or the complete cell to be lifted using mechanical aids.

Front-access valve panel

All valves are positioned at the front of the cell for easy, unobstructed access throughout a test - no need to reach around or reposition the cell.
