Due to continued growth an opportunity has
arisen for a well presented, intelligent and highly motivated Technical
Sales Engineer to take onboard a role which requires a strong
relationship builder with a proactive approach to new business. The
primary focus of the role is to generate new business and to develop
existing partnerships.
This post could suit an experienced engineer who has aspirations to use
their knowledge in a sales role or an experienced sales engineer who has
some experience of selling within the civil engineering/geotechnical
market.
Although the post holder will work closely with and under the guidance
of our Commercial Director they will need to be self-motivated and
capable of working on their own initiative.
Job Description
• Maximise sales of GDS equipment using a high standard of acquired
product knowledge and professional selling skills
• Generate new business leads; follow-up, support and action any
potential new business and build customer relationships via phone,
email, letter and face to face contact
• Pro-actively generate and develop new market opportunities and drive
the development and winning of new business
• Receive and handle enquiries and requests for quotation.
• Assist with the update of customer and agent records
• Assist in the preparation of tenders
• Generate sales opportunity pipeline and at a minimum, achieve sales
targets
• Efficiently and effectively deal with technical enquiries received
through sales
• Provide advice and support for agents through written and verbal
communication.
• Manage the sales process from initial opportunity through to the
securing of customer purchase order and ensure successful order delivery
• Develop and maintain knowledge and experience of GDS equipment and
relevant technologies and use this knowledge to convert business issues
into customer solutions
Person specification
• Highly developed communication skills – able to listen, analyse and
act upon customer needs and translate those needs to colleagues
• Be professional in your approach with the ability to liaise at all
levels
• Ability to communicate effectively and accurately in written format
• Good organisational skills matched with a flexible attitude
• Good generic IT skills
• Highly motivated, self sufficient and capable of working without
supervision
• Customer focused and result driven
• A proven track record in new business development
• Formal sales training or good experience in a sales environment and a
focused approach to the sales process
